Importance of Nutrition :
Food has been a basic part of our exsistence through centuries we have acquired a wealth of information about the use of food to ensure growth of children and youth, to maintain good health throughout the life and to meet special needs of pregnancy and lactation and to use it to recover from illness.The study of nutrition and food composition helps you to understand the nutritional contribution of the food. You may have been told that certain foods are very important for maintaining good health, while others are harmful. As you study the science of food and nurition, you will need to examine the idea you have about foods very carefully and accept or reject these in the light of knowledge you will acquire. whatever you learn in this area should be practiced and applied in personal life.

The undergraduate Nutrition student have bright prospects to continue their education and achive a master degre in the subject which is offered at Osmania University college for women, Koti and Shadan P.G. College for women, Khairtabad. The nutrition students, once they gain expectise over the subject can work as a Dietician / Nutritionist, health consultant, Dieticians are experts in food and nutrition of the population.
Laboratory :
The management of Madina Degree College has provided well equipped laoraties to all the departments and same goes to Nutrition. The Department has two labs one holds the biochemistry practicals, wherein the analysis of nutrients is carried out. The other lab is for planning and preparing of normal and therapentic diets. The lab are well equipped with all the necessary infrastructure.
Library :
Madina Degree College taken care to provide a well sticked library to the students, which is an essential feature. The library holds the latest editions of nutrition books. The department takes care that both Indian and foreign authorised books are follwed to update the knowledge of students.
Activities of Department :
The science of food and nutrition is the most practical and applicable subject. The activities canducted by the deparrtment help the student to gain proactical exposure in the subject..

As a psrt of public health curricilum the student prepare Audio Visual aids coverig wide spectrum of nutrition including different subjects of nutrition. health, diseases and public health.

Celebrating the occasion of National Nutrition week, department of Nutrition organised Nu-Treat - food at work and exhibition wherein the students prepared displayed standard diets for different age groups. The students prepared more than 100 posters coveriing different food nutrition and health aspects providing minutest detail about the subject.

A guest lecture was arranged on this eve on "" Funcional food - The unbeatables"". the guest of the day was Dr. Damyanti, an eminent scientist from National Institute of Nutrition, who enlighted the students with here immense knowledge.
- Best recipe contest, Best exhibit, Best poster competitions was conducted during Nutrition week to encourage the students and to help them gain practical exposure.
- Nu-Treat was inagurated by K.M.Arifuddin, Secretary, Madina Group of Institutions.
