The Department of English offered a B.A. in English Language and Literature, under the able guidance of Y. Vidyavathi Devi. Over the years the B.A. programme has grown and altered dramatically, incorporating a wide variety of courses in keeping with contemporary trends and career opportunities. Making full use of , the Department has been a pioneer in introducing courses in Translation, Feminist Perspectives and courses in media such as Advertising and Video Production. The traditional literature courses have been given a streamlined, chronological structure.
English has been gaining importance for global communication. Importance of english (Communication skills) has cropped up as there is a boom for IT enabled sectors. There were times when only a graduation / post graduation was enough for getting a job. Times have changed, Academic qualifications alone are not enough for a successful career prospects. Now students are required to possess multiple skills.
